After having graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, I did an internship in general surgery at the University of California-East Bay for one year. In 2005, I decided to pursue my passion, psychiatry, and which led me to the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Psychiatry Residency Training Program. I finished three years in General Psychiatry residency. In my fourth year of General Psychiatry Residency, I was honored by my peers and training mentors with two awards; one was a Resident Mentor award and the other was the Resident of the Year award.
After General Psychiatry residency, I decided to pursue a one year fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at the prestigious University of Southern California Institute of Psychiatry&Law. During my one year fellowship, I learned how to write proper psychiatric-legal reports in criminal forensic psychiatry, as well as learning how to be an expert witness.
Since graduating from fellowship, I have become board certified from the American Board of Psychiatry&Neurology in both Adult General and Forensic Psychiatry.
I previously have been an evaluating psychiatrist at the San Fernando Mental Health Court, where I wrote reports determining competency of mentally ill criminal offenders. Since graduating from fellowship, I have also been admitted to the Los Angeles Panel of Psychiatrists and Psychologists, where I receive work in the criminal field from district attorneys and public defenders. I am also an independent contractor within the field of forensic psychiatry and receive referrals from privately hired attorneys within the Los Angeles area. I currently have an appointment to evaluate competency referrals at the mental health court in Hollywood. I have testified as an expert witness in various courthouses located in Los Angeles county.
The aforementioned is a brief synopsis of my forensic psychiatry practice. I am also a clinical treating psychiatrist so I understand the effects of psychotropic medications and how they can affect the course of a psychiatric illness. If you have any questions or would like to consult regarding a case, please feel free to do so in the Contact section. Thanks!
